Miriam Overlach, born in Hannover, Germany, studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Erika Waardenburg. In December 2006 she received her Masters Diploma with distinction. She has taken masterclasses with Isabelle Perrin, Daphne Boden, Sarah O`Brien and Emilia Moskvitina. In 2005 she got a scholarship by the 'Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds'� to take lessons with Brigitte Sylvestre in France.Between 1993 and 1999 Miriam has received divers grants in German national youth competitions, 1998 she got a first price of the Vereinigung Deutscher Harfinisten.In 2002 Miriam won the First Prize in the International “Martine Geliot� Harp Competition, and thereafter received an invitation to the renowned International Harp Competition in Israel in 2003 and 2006, where she was placed two times among the first six contestants. In april 2006 Miriam won the national Dutch University Competition, which awarded her both solo and chamber music performances in the Amsterdam Grachten Festival (Canal Festival). In march 2007 she got the Vriendenkrans of the Concertgebouw and a recital at the small hall there. Also the AVRO (national radio station) offered her a recording of a solo-CD.In the last few years she has been an invited performer at various European festivals, including the World Harp Congress in Genève and the Darmstadt International Summer Music Course for contemporary music.Miriam is member of the Trio Lumaka (with flute and viola), that was awarded first jury prize and the public's choice prize at the International chambermusic competition in Almere 2006.Miriam has played with ensembles and orchestras including the Gustav Mahler Youth orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Residentie Orchestra (the Hague) and Het Gelders Orkest. Miriam plays regularly with the Asko-and Schönberg- Ensemble.
